Mongoose Pizazz Girls' Bike (16-Inch Wheels) Review

First, I'd like to urge fellow reviewers to rate products based on the product, not on the seller, price, or shipping. Each of those problems can be addressed within the review or to the specific party involved, but it tells nothing about the product and giving arating considering these factors doesn't give an accurate account of the ITEM, which is what the rating is supposed to address. That being said, i bought this bike for my 4 year old. It doesn't come with a kickstand, which isn't a big deal at the present because she needs the training wheels. Kickstands are easy to find, but I would prefer having one in the box. The bike is beautiful and durable. It was fairly easy to assemble and like all children's bikes, it is a bit hefty with a shipping weight of 30 pounds. A bike for a 3-6 year favors sturdiness over speed. My daughter loves it. I will agree with other reviewers about the hand brake (caliper) being stiff and difficult for a child to operate. Overall, I would recommend this bike to the value conscious parent and especially those tired of pink. The details are perfectly girly without being frilly and make this bike stand out and up long after "bratz," "barbie," "my little pony," and "princess" bikes lose their appeal.

About Shipping: I bought this bike from Amazon and, admittedly, I made them send a replacement because the first bike was scratched and dirty. the box looked as if it had been thrown from plane, train, and truck. I gave Amazon a bit of a tongue lashing concerning the condition in which a child's product, excuse me, any product, should be shipped in to maintain a buyer's loyalty. In the end, problem solved. My review is not colored by price or shipping issues because neither is directly attributable to the product itself.

About Mongoose
In 1974, BMX Products, Inc., later to be known as Mongoose Bicycles, launched from a humble garage. The first of its kind, the BMX bicycle was named after bicycle motocross and was designed to fit the needs of the rough-and-tumble dirt-racing pastime that took its toll on wheels and bicycles. The heavy-duty, one-piece cast-aluminum Mongoose Motomag wheel was soon born, and it was the first competition-ready BMX bicycle available. Skip Hess, while in Australia pursuing his motor sports passion, came into contact with a strange and unusual cat-size animal--the mongoose. Known for its passive nature while unprovoked, yet vicious and aggressive enough to kill a threatening Cobra twice its size, the Mongoose impressed Hess, who quickly registered the Mongoose trademark for his new bicycle racing frame.
The Expert BMX bicycle model, which is still a cornerstone of the Mongoose BMX line today, was introduced in 1980. Shortly after, Mongoose captured the first ever ABA National #1 Cruiser Title. Previously known for the 20-inch bicycle, this title signaled the re-direction of Mongoose bicycles to larger-wheeled, adult-sized models. Several years later, Mongoose continues to dominate the cruiser racing circuit with six National No. 1 Cruiser titles, leading to the introduction of adult-sized Mongoose all-terrain bicycles (ATBs).
In 1992, Mongoose pioneered the full-suspension market with the introduction of the Amplifier. This design is still the most-copied suspension design in the market. Several year later, Mongoose launched the Newman adult bicycle frame, which is proven to be 15% stronger than any other bike frame in the market. The design, while functionally sound, also raised eyebrows because of its distinctive look.
In the next few years, Mongoose increased its marketing focus to dominate the bicycle industry, and more important, extend beyond it. The Mongoose brand marketing initiative makes more than 100 million impressions. Mongoose's brand awareness increased by over 130% in 1999 and solidifies the No. 2 market share position in units and dollars. Mongoose was acquired by Pacific Cycle, LLC, and continues to grow and prosper with more than 40 models of BMX, mountain, trail, freestyle, jumping, comfort, road, and cyclocross bikes.

too bad .... kids don't need these long.
but they do need to reach the ground ... they absolutely will not fit 20" bikes, they miss by 4" ... 12" bike yes.
they are also so flimsy if your child is not coordinated and able to learn fast they will not last.
if road are rough I imagine they would not last but a few days
I would also question their safety

Bike USA Stabilizer Wheel Kit Review

I bought this product based on the picture as the wheels touch the ground thereby allowing for a wider base of support. As per the professional who put the wheels on for me, they can NOT touch the ground because then the large wheel can NOT get traction. True, I did not understand the physic behind it, but I did call the company prior to the purchase. The "stability" the product affords is after the fact. First you have to lean over so that the side wheel can catch you. This product may work for individual with mild peripheral vestibular disorders, but it will NOT work for those with central and or combined vestibular disorders. So... I spent a lot of money for a product that I can not use and I spent additional money to have it put on my bike. Here's the final note... the gentleman who owns the bike shop will NOT sell these to his customers, He recommends that his customers purchase a three wheeler.

Schwinn Boy Bicycle Training Wheels Review

These training wheels are easy to install however the bike we have has a thicker than usual bar going to the back of the bike and the training wheels constantly slip and spin around even when very tight. It had a rubber guard so it doesn't slip which is good but seems that the cut out just isn't wide enough for our bike. The other trouble with it is that the plastic chain guard had to be removed to make them work on this bike and there's no way to put back on with them attached, a hazard. I don't know if it's meant specifically for Schwinn bikes or not, maybe that's the problem. I wouldn't have bought again for those reasons...
