I bought the silver (jetstream) Air Jordans. They're very comfortable and easy to get on and off. Styled similarly like shoes for preschool children, these sneakers feature two velcro straps that securely hold the foot in the shoe. The encapsulated AIR cushioning technology really feels so comfortable, much like walking on clouds. While the metallic leather appears a bit gaudy at first, they're a must for night walking or motorcycle riding as the highly reflective color keeps the wearer visible at night.

Etnies Little Kid/Big Kid Callicut Sneaker Review

I bought "Callicut" shoes for my son when he was a toddler (before he could tie shoes) and he was able to put these on by himself using the hook and loop closure, within a few days of buying them. For any parent who has ever been late and had to help their child put on shoes or wait for their child to put them on "all by myself", these shoes are a life-saver!

My special needs daughter wears Ankle-Foot Orthotics (AFO's). These shoes fit very well over her AFO's and they are cute! Shoes that fit with AFO's can be hard to come by, expensive, and medicinal looking.

The "Callicut"* shoe comes almost completely apart on the top including the shoe's tongue which can be lifted all the way back to the toe of the shoe. The tongue's ability to move helps the foot to slide in more easily and saves the back of the shoe from becoming worn and flimsy. Her new AFO's have a hinge at the ankle and we ended up having to cut the shoe's tongue out to accommodate the extra width. Other shoes we have tried begin to fall apart along the back causing it to get stuck between the AFO and the shoe.

Since the hook and loop strap closure does not have to be threaded through a thin hole on the opposite side of the shoe, there is no difficulty with straps fraying or separating making it near impossible to thread through a tiny hole. The "Callicut's" unique closure also accommodates the AFO's width both with or without a hinge at the ankle and is "adjustable" to fit a variety of little foot widths. The insert of the shoe is removable making it even more customized to the child wearing them. The sole of the shoe is thick and sturdy which helps those who are having a harder time walking to feel sure-footed and supported.

These shoes are just what I had wanted for my daughter. Something a little more stylish and cute than what was offered at the orthotist's office and a lot cheaper too! These shoes are also something that all children can wear, including those with or without special needs. Thank you Etnies! I can't tell you how excited I was to purchase these shoes!!

*The "Fader" sneaker, also by Etnies, worked with my daughter's AFO's too. Etnies Toddler Toddler Fader Sneaker
