I wrote a lengthy review already, but can't find it or reference to Tour de triathletes on-line.Do not use this vendor! My order did not arrive as scheduled, but I was willing to wait another month. When I tried to call back and cancel, I couldn't get a hold of anyone - either by email or the number listed.I called and emailed numerous times! Finally I disputed the charge with the credit card company and let Amazon customer service know.

Of course, Amazon customer service responded within the time frame they promised and I will hopefully get the charge reversed shortly.

I will definitely never order from Tour de triathletes again!

This is an amazing helmet. The fit is secure without being overly constricting, a tough bill for most helmets. I can see why they got an industry design award with this particular retention system (2008). Though helmet styling is a personal choice, the form and function of this helmet is equal or better than the best I've had in 24 years of racing bikes.

Giro Pneumo Bike Helmet Review

I like this helmet.I had a bad crash last June--went down hard and fast at 25 mph.The helmet broke in 4 places, distributed the force of the impact across the my skull, and protected me from more serious injury.I replaced it with another Pneumo.

It gives noticeably more ventilation than the Giro Eclipse, my previous helmet, and seems to have a somewhat lower profile. It is 38 grams heavier (about 10 percent) than the Eclipse due to foam that seems more dense.

The Giro Pneumo Road Bike Helmet is constructed with in-mold technology that fuses a tough outer microshell to the helmet's EPS foam liner. The fusion process reinforces areas around vents and ribs, making the helmet lighter, cooler and tougher. This Giro helmet features wind-tunnel ventilation that combines 19 active vents with internal exhaust channels that force cool, fresh air over and around your head while forcing stale, warm air out. The Giro Pneumo also features a roll cage, and a P.O.V. Giro Monza Bike Helmet Review

Giro Monza Bike Helmet

This is a good helmet for the money. It fits my head like a glove (well, like a hat, really). I found it helpful to know that Giro helmets generally fit people with a more round head around the hat band, whereas Bell helmets are better for folks with a more oval shaped head.

One issue that will keep me from buying another one is the pads. They are oriented longitudinally so that sweat runs down from the top of the head and is channeled to drip right into my eyes. The Limar helmet I had before this one avoided this by putting a front pad across the forehead laterally with its low points depositing the sweat outside of the eye area.

Bell Faction Allan Cooke Multi-Sport Helmet Review

Bell Faction Allan Cooke Multi-Sport Helmet

I purchased this helmet online, because I was unable to find anything I liked in local sporting goods stores. I commute to work by bicycle, and this helmet offers good protection, and a comfortable fit. This is a multi-sport helmet as opposed to a standard bicycle helmet. With any helmet, you will get a case of "helmet hair", and this product is no exception, but that is the price you have to pay for safety. I like the style and green color of this helmet, even if I do feel a bit like an Israeli commando every time I put it on. If you spend any time on a bicycle, a good helmet is absolutely essential gear, and I recommend this helmet very highly.

Bell Faction Jamie Bestwick Multi-Sport Helmet Review

Bell Faction Jamie Bestwick Multi-Sport Helmet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I currently ride a brakeless BMX street bike and with the recent near fatal accidents of professional riders I decided to invest some money to protect my skull.

If you visit a skatepark (that requires & enforces safety gear rules) you'll notice a split between ProTec and Bell helmets. Unfortunately, the extra-squishy, super-comfortable foam inside the ProTec helmets are not CPSC certified and the common ones I see are skateboarding helments that are not built for cycling (they do not provide sufficient protection to the lower-rear of the helmet).

Ultimately I did not really care what the Bell Faction looked like as long as it provided the proper protection, but I am very pleased with the aesthetics and the 3 different sized pads included for a perfect fit and I appreciate how well it vents compared to my ProTec classic. I would definitely recommend this helmet to all my friends & fellow BMX riders looking to ride smart and stay safe.

If you're wondering which size to order, I found a Bell sizing chart online (Google) and used a string to measure the circumference of my skull and then measured the string with measuring tape.

Giro Atmos Racing Bike Helmet Review

Giro Atmos Racing Bike Helmet
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I always rode as a young girl on my bmx bike, down stairs and through the streets, with no helmet. It was the early 80's and no one wore helmets... As an adult I went for a while riding without one, but ultimately, we all know it's something we should do. Having someone in my family sustain brain injuries REALLY drove that point home.

This helmet was way more money than I wanted to spend on a helmet but it's the ONLY helmet I've ever tried on that felt, well, barely there.... You can easily forget that you're wearing it, which is what I was looking for. After all, I wanted to use it every day, not spend $50 on a helmet I hated and would never wear. The atmos also leaves your senses intact... I sometimes feel like my hearing or quickness of response would be influenced when I try on a bulky hemet. I DO use it all the time and will buy another once mine gets too old. Also, having a smaller head, most helmets look awful on me, like I was attacked by fungus and turned into a mushroomhead. The atmos tapers nicely around the edges which looks way better.

The adjustment on the helmet is great and easy, plus the straps stay in a good spot and you can adjust their angle too. The only tiny thing I'd change is the same thing an earlier reviewer noted... where the helmet meets the very top of the head is a little bit flat for my head, so there is small contact point there that I wish weren't there. Aside from that It's perfect and thanks Giro!

I commute as year round as I can in Chicago, so in the winter I just slap on a helmet cover over it and a thinly knit hat underneath and it becomes amply warm enough.

Lastly, the most glowing Giro helmet recommendation probably comes from Wisconsin. My husband and I were riding up there when we heard that some student nearby had been hit by a truck. Actually, he fell under it and the truck wheel ran over his head. He was wearing one of their helmets and was absolutely fine (at least physically) and went on to pass his school exams that same month.

Product Description:
The Giro Atmos bike helmet continues to set the standard for high performance, matchless style, and comfortable fit. The Atmos offers such features as a proprietary in-mold design that provides the strength to support 26 cooling vents, a benchmark in-mold roll cage, and a low-profile silhouette. The vents are particularly comforting, as they work in tandem with an intricate network of internal channels to create a cooling system dubbed Wind Channel ventilation. The upshot? The Atmos is one of the coolest helmets around, making it a top choice for road, 'cross, and XC riders alike.

The helmet's Wind Tunnel ventilation thrusts cool, fresh air over and around the rider's head. Ionos Technologies
The Atmos employs a number of advanced Giro technologies. The Atmos' in-mold construction, for example, fuses the helmet's outer shell with the impact-absorbing EPS liner. Not only does this reinforce both layers, but the "exoskeleton" allows Giro to engineer helmets that are lighter, more durable, and better ventilated. This culminates in the helmet's proprietary Wind Tunnel ventilation system, which combines active vents with internal exhaust channels that thrust cool, fresh air over and around the rider's head while forcing heat and stale air out. By definition, a channel is a route through which anything passes or progresses. In the case of Giro helmets, the internal channels are carefully crafted and are one of the keys to a well-ventilated helmet. This significant increase in air channeling makes a difference that riders will feel immediately.
Reinforcement and Fit
The Atmos also includes a roll-cage reinforcement--a tough web of DuPont nylon molded inside the helmet's EPS foam liner. This reinforcement provides an extra measure of strength and integrity that you'll never even notice--unless you need it. Finally, the Atmos helmet is engineered using Super Fit technology, making it so comfortable that it virtually disappears when you put it on. The proprietary three-size Super Fit system is based on "human scale factors" data and nearly 20 years of crafting helmets for the best riders in the world. The result is a helmet that fits 98 percent of the world's population, yet looks and feels like it was made just for you.
The Atmos helmet weighs only 275 grams and complies with U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's safety standards for bicycle helmets.

Pros:
Air ventilation is truly excellent, fit is snug and comfortable, feels very light, the visor does not chatter in the wind, the helmet's design is fairly stylish.

Cons:
The straps often need to be pushed away from the back of my ears, the rubber part of "overmolded arm" on the RocLoc system inside the helmet interferes with the back tips of my glasses. The helmet is used mainly for my daily commute. The RocLoc system makes the helmet fit well but at the expense of not being able to wear sunglasses comfortably. I wanted to try the Giro brand after I wore out my excellent Bell X-Ray helmet. When this Giro Hex wears out I will replace it with a new Bell X-Ray.

This is a very comfortable helmet with a nice fit. Most of the helmets you'll find in this price range don't fit well.Believe me, I've tried a number of them. But this one fits me great. My wife has the same model and it fits her well too, thanks to the dial-fit system.

One small piece of advice: It has a more rounded appearance from the front than most bike helmets do.So if you don't like the thought of a "round" look when someone's looking at you straight on, this might not be the helmet for you.

This is an excellent helmet and it works too.I gave it a crash test last month when I was hit by a car (I was doing 25 mph) and hit my head hard on the asphalt. The helmet didn't break or crack and I didn't suffer any type of head injuries.I was so impressed, I replaced it with the same model. The fit is great and I wore it on a 200 mile one day ride without any discomfort. The Garmin color isn't bad either.

The Ionos is built around a proprietary in-mold composite sub-frame (ICS) that provides the strength to support 21 of the largest vents ever carved into a bike helmet. These massive vents, coupled with an intricate network of internal channels, creates a cooling system dubbed Wind Tunnel ventilation, making Ionos the coolest, best-ventilated helmet on the market. The helmet is perfect for keeping Grand Tour champions like Lance Armstrong and Alberto Contador cool on the hottest days and over the most tortuous Alpine climbs.

The helmet's Wind Tunnel ventilation thrusts cool, fresh air over and around the rider's head. Ionos Technologies
The Ionos helmet employs some of the most advanced technologies that Giro has ever used in a bike helmet. The Ionos' in-mold construction, for example, fuses the helmet's outer shell with the impact-absorbing EPS liner. Not only does this reinforce both layers, but the "exoskeleton" also allows Giro to engineer helmets that are lighter, more durable, and better ventilated.
The secret behind the vent technology is the in-mold composite subframe, which lets Giro offer huge vents without compromising protection. The Ionos features a visible weave of carbon reinforcement that runs through the helmet's liner and around the vents. By using these advanced materials, the sub-frame can be tuned to provide incredible structural support, impact dispersion, and resistance to penetration.
Padding and Fit
The Ionos offers X-Static helmet padding, which is entwined with an environmentally friendly silver-coated fabric called Silver Fiber. Found exclusively in Ionos helmets, the fabric provides anti-microbial and thermodynamic benefits, so in addition to keeping you cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, your helmet will stay fresh all year round. Finally, the Ionos helmet is engineered using Super Fit technology, making it so comfortable that it virtually disappears when you put it on. The proprietary three-size Super Fit system is based on "human scale factors" data and nearly 20 years of crafting helmets for the best riders in the world. The result is a helmet that fits 98 percent of the world's population, yet looks and feels like it was made just for you.

My only complaint is that I think it's a bit smaller than advertised.I've got a large melon, but an XL in other Pro-Tec helmets has fit fine. This one is quite snug.Beyond that, it's a great helmet that keeps things light and comfortable. Can beat it for the money.
