K2 Athena 2.1 Women's Inline Skates Review

Okay, so I just got these skates yesterday evening, and yeah, I'm used to $30 skates, but geez these are comfortable! I took them for a spin last night. They roll very smoothly, and they feel very light on my feet, even though I don't think they're actually any lighter than my old ones. They're really supportive of my ankles, and all around just really nice skates. I tried on the K2 Athena 6.1 skates also, and actually liked these better. The other (more expensive) ones squashed my feet. Maybe I would've just needed a bigger size in those, but I wonder why? I really like these skates so far. I'll update when I've had more experience on them.

About K2
In February of 1961 the first pair of fiberglass skis was produced by brothers Bill and Don Kirschner in their Vashon Island, Washington shop. The Kirscners, avid skiers, built fiberglass animal cages for medical use and were convinced that their process could build a ski that was lighter, stronger, and more lively than the wood and metal skis of the day. They really just wanted to build some cool skis for themselves and their friends. And the rest, as they say, is history. Much has changed since those early days on sleepy Vashon Island, but one thing has not: K2 is still a bunch of adrenaline junkies who just want to make some cool stuff for themselves and their friends.
Today, K2 Inc. is a premier, branded consumer products company with a portfolio of leading brands including Shakespeare and Stearns for marine and outdoor products, Rawlings and Worth for team sports, K2 and Brass Eagle for action sports, and Marmot and Ex Officio for apparel and footwear. K2's diverse products includes fishing, watersports activities, baseball, softball, alpine skiing, snowboarding, and inline skating.

I gave these rollerblades as a gift and my nephew couldnt even stand up because the rollerblades had no grip and he just slid around and they were not safe. I contacted the seller and they contacted me back promptly but their return policy SUCKS! All I could get was a credit and they were going to charge me a %10 restocking fee if they didnt get the rollerblades back within 10 days of contacting me. Crappy product... even crappier return policy. Save your time and money... if you want cheap rollerblades that are at least safe, go to Wal mart or Targert.

First pair of skates purchased after 15 years and they are pretty comfortable.Skated for 2 hours and no foot pain!I wanted a faster skate but decide to get these b/c the boot was comfortable -I could always change the bearings later on.why 4 stars?the foot bed is thin and offers very little arch support, I will most likely change them.& the brake offers no stopping support.I'm a pretty good skater and tried to skate home from the park in these and the brake just wouldn't slow me down enough to not go crashing into parked cars.Maybe I don't know how to use the brake, I still miss the old school roller skate rubber stop. However these skates are pretty fast and are comfortable.I would recommend them to anyone looking for new inline skates.
p.s. I bought mine at a brick and mortar store and paid 30$ more than listed on amazon. There was no customer service and limited selection.

I was a little concerned about buying these, especially since they don't have many reviews yet, but when they went on sale for $99 - the same price as the regular Rollerblade Spark skates that I was considering - I immediately bought them. I'm a beginner, and was having problems even standing up in my borrowed Ultra Wheels skates. These fit me perfectly, were true to size, and are very stable and comfortable...no more wobbling. The wheels are definitely fast me, even on carpet, but I'll just change them for slightly smaller ones. Update once I improve :)

Where do I start? The first thing I disliked about these skates was the look. They look really cheap. After putting themI noticed they were really 'grabbing my ankles' which I thought would be a good thing, but I turned out to be rather painful. I usually skate about 4 miles. I couldn't even make it a mile with theses skates my ankles were hurting so bad on the inside. When I pull the soft boot out of the skate the boot itself is really comfortable and well padded but the hard plastic part on the insideof the skate just isn't shaped the right way. In my opinion it needs to curve just a slight bit. Another thing I dislike is the wheels. They make a lot of noise and you can feel every little ridge in the road which makes it feel like your feet are vibrating. I think that's the only reason why I made it a mile in these. My feet were so numb from the vibrating that the pain didn't fully hit me until I stopped. I tried the a few more times, once with sweat bands around my ankles which helped a little bit.
I wouldn't recommend these skates to anybody.

I got these and they are awesome and fast. Great price here with amazon and free shipping no other store could beat their price. Comfy well padded skate. Where else can you get an abec 9 bearing on a skate under $70? I do recommend ordering one size up from reg shoe size. I wear an 8 and ordered the 9 and its a perfect fit. size 8 was way too tight.
